Today, Team Nohô had the pleasure of interviewing a kitesurfing enthusiast (you can also find on Le Mag Nohô an interview with a host who is passionate about the associative world, or a host who wants to share about her job directly on our blog). We asked her the following questions.

Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Hugo, I’m 26! I’m originally from Reims, but I’ve always wanted to live by the sea! I lived for a while in La Rochelle and now I’m in the Caen area. I’m passionate about water sports, having worked as a sailing instructor, and I’m currently kitesurfing and wingfoiling.

How long have you been playing this sport?

I started several years ago, with old equipment that allowed me to discover the basics. Although the equipment wasn’t really suitable, I immediately got hooked on the sensation of gliding and controlling the wind. That’s when I knew I wanted to go further. Little by little, I invested in more modern equipment, and my progress was meteoric.

Can you tell us more about the sport?

Kitesurfing is a water sport in which you glide over the water, pulled by a kite specially designed to harness the force of the wind. Basically, I use the force of the wind captured by the kite to move forward. Using the tiller, I adjust the power and steer the kite into the “wind window”. By positioning the kite correctly, I can accelerate, jump, or even ride the waves. Balance and coordination are essential to manage traction and stay on the move.
Kitesurfing is much more than a sport for me, it’s a real passion, a kind of fusion between wind, water and adrenalin. It’s a sport that allows me to feel free, in the middle of nature, while pushing my limits with every session.

What's your favorite part of your sport?

My best memory? Without a doubt, a magical sunrise with friends. We were all there on the water, in perfect conditions, and it was a crazy session, full of laughter, feats and suspended moments. It’s moments like that that make kitesurfing so worthwhile.

What's your next sporting goal?

I dream of an epic crossing to the Chausey Islands. It would be a great technical and physical challenge, but I’m determined to make it happen. It’s one of my most exciting future projects in this discipline!

Do you practice any other sports?

In addition to kitesurfing, I run to work on my cardio and play padel with friends!
