Delve into the world of Agathe Fumey, a passionate, committed, and curious young art critic. At just 25 years old, she explores the world of culture with sensitivity, ranging from art criticism to mediation, writing, and artistic collaborations. Her love for contemporary art, technique, and the analysis of works has led her to a freelance career that she is now building with energy and determination.
In this interview, she looks back on her career, her passion for contemporary art, her inspirations, her professional life, and what she hopes to convey to future Nohô users.
My name is Agathe Fumey, I am 25 years old and I am a self-employed entrepreneur in the field of art and culture. After completing a Master’s degree in literature, I embarked on various projects: art criticism, mediation, exhibition curating, writing for galleries and artists, etc. Now based in Paris, I am developing a multifaceted career, always guided by a genuine desire to share my passion for art.
Since I was little, I wanted to become a journalist. Then I became interested in Renaissance painting, before gradually turning my attention to technique and the analysis of works of art. That’s how my passion for contemporary art began.
I like to understand how a work is made, why it exists, what it says about the world. This analytical pleasure gradually shaped my professional orientation and artistic choices.
Rather than a single moment, it is my everyday life that holds my fondest memories. I grew up in a very creative environment thanks to my father, who was a musician, author, and craftsman.
Even today, every exhibition I choose to visit gives me real pleasure: meeting artists, talking to gallery owners, chatting with other art critics… That’s what fuels my artistic and cultural activity.
My goal is simple: to make my freelance business work.
I want to develop my collaborations with galleries, artists, press officers, cultural media, etc., and continue writing.
Ideally, I would like to grow this business so that it becomes a more significant part of my professional life.
On Nohô, I would like to offer encounters with:
For me, sharing a passion is essential: the art world functions largely through networking, and I want to help those who are looking to take their first steps in it.
