Today, Team Nohô had the pleasure of speaking with a yoga enthusiast who is registered on Nohô! (You can also find an interview on Le Mag Nohô with a host who is passionate about motorbikes and has dreams of Dakar, an interview with a host who is passionate about sailing and has her sights set on a mini transatlantic race, or a host who is passionate about aerial arts directly on our blog). We asked her five questions to better understand her background and what motivates her to always go further.
My name is Mathilde and I have been a yoga and functional mobility teacher for almost two years. I give both group and individual lessons, mainly in Saint-Aubin-de-Médoc, a small town near Bordeaux.
I teach a gentle practice, inspired by Hatha yoga, a traditional yoga adapted for beginners. To this, I add functional mobility work. In short, these are exercises focused on muscle and joint stretching, combining strength and flexibility. Sometimes, I use props to go further in the movements and gain amplitude.
I haven’t invented anything, but I integrate mobility – often called stretching – into yoga to support my students with different needs, whether it’s improving their posture, their flexibility or relieving certain tensions.
I work with people who have no particular pain but want to keep fit, improve their flexibility and work on their coordination, as well as people with tension, areas to work on or old injuries.
I also sometimes work with athletes who practise several disciplines and feel the need for additional work. They seek to integrate exercises targeting certain muscle groups into their weekly routine to optimize their performance and avoid injury.
I obtained a 200-hour certification to teach yoga. Then, I took a specialized training course in functional mobility to deepen my knowledge and offer more comprehensive support.
Discovering yoga teaching is one of them, because it was never a change of career for me, but my first professional venture. I started my own business at the age of 24, and two years later, I still love it. Starting your career with a job you love is a chance, and a milestone in my life.
Another highlight was my first workshops focused on mobility. I wanted to attract people who were curious and intrigued by this approach. It was really satisfying to see that the participants enjoyed it and came back.
Yes! I like the way different physical activities complement each other. As well as yoga, I do cross-training, pole dancing and a bit of running. For the time being, that’s enough for me!
Mathilde has been a yoga and functional mobility teacher for almost two years. Inspired by Hatha yoga, she offers a gentle and accessible practice, enriched by mobility exercises to improve strength, flexibility and well-being.
She works with beginners as well as athletes looking to supplement their training. Passionate about yoga for eight years, she has made teaching it her profession and passion and enjoys passing on her knowledge in a caring environment.
🏃♀️💪 Many thanks to her for agreeing to this short interview!
