My name is Baptiste, I’m 40 years old and I’m a photographer. I live in northern France, near Cambrai.
My career path is quite unusual. I left school quite early and have always worked in freelance jobs.
Originally, I wanted to pursue a career in comics, mainly as a scriptwriter. I also wrote articles and worked for a local newspaper as a press correspondent. It was at that point that photography became more important to me, as I was taking photos to accompany my articles.
In 2012, I launched a micro-business around a T-shirt shop, collaborating with artists, illustrators, and graphic designers to create original visuals. This business still exists, even though the last two years have been more complicated due to the economic climate.
Today, I am working on a new project to launch myself professionally in photography.
I’ve always had a connection with photography. As a child, I used small compact cameras to take photos on vacation. Then there was a period when I didn’t practice as much.
It was mainly in 2011, when I started working for the newspaper, that I re-equipped myself and really got back into it.
Little by little, I started photographing landscapes, insects, and everyday scenes again. I’m also very sensitive to images in general: comics, illustrations, movies, pop culture, music… All of that feeds my vision.
Photography gradually came back into my life, until it became a real passion. And lately, the desire has become even stronger: to explore more, practice more regularly, go further.
I like to explore many things. Landscapes, architecture, but also the small details of everyday life: an urban atmosphere, an interior, an object, a light. Anything that speaks to me can become a subject.
I’m also doing more and more portraits, which is something I really enjoy. I’m also interested in family photography.
I would say that I remain fairly open in my practice. There are simply certain areas that appeal to me less, such as sports photography, for example, but overall I consider myself to be quite versatile.
On Nohô, I want to focus on sharing.
This could be an introduction for someone who has just bought their first camera and doesn’t really know where to start. It could also be for people who already know the basics but want to better understand the settings or improve their skills.
I don’t claim to know everything, but I do have nearly fifteen years of experience with a digital SLR camera, so I can provide support, explanations, and guidance.
And then it can also simply be a moment of exchange around photography: discussing, comparing points of view, practicing together. The idea is really to share a good time around a common passion.
Through his unusual and sincere career path, Baptiste perfectly embodies those enthusiasts who build their path step by step, guided by the desire to create and share. From comic books to journalism, then to creative entrepreneurship, photography has always been there, in the background, until it became a real life project today.
On Nohô, he not only teaches settings and techniques, but above all offers a moment of sharing around images that is accessible to all. It’s a human, simple, and authentic approach to photography, faithful to the spirit of sharing passion that drives the platform.
